Who I am and why this site exists.
I'm Don (and no, "Don Gilp" is not my real name 😉). 47, based in Spain, running a company - which mostly means a lot of sitting, a lot of stress, and over the years a lot of weight on top of that. I've been overweight for most of my life. Tried things that worked for a while (intermittent fasting, keto, that kind of stuff) and then didn't. Back pain, knee pain, blood pressure creeping up - the usual signs that something needs to change.
On 19 June 2026 I started Mounjaro. Starting weight was 122 kg, goal is somewhere around 88 kg, and I'm giving myself a year to get there. I'm documenting the whole thing here - partly to keep myself accountable, partly because when I was researching whether to do this I found a lot of noise and not enough plain write-ups from someone actually going through it.
Worth saying upfront: I'm not trying to convince anyone to go on MJ. I'm also not one of those people who thinks you can just jab once a week and skip the rest. Without changing how you eat and move, you'll either gain it back or stay on the pen forever - and neither of those is what I'm going for. The drug is one piece; the rest is habit, tracking, walking, and not sliding back into old patterns once the easy wins are done.
If you want the full backstory and the plan I put together, start with my intro post. Week-by-week updates live in the journal.
I'm not a doctor. This is just my experience - take it for what it is. If you want the prompts I used with AI to research all of this, mail me and I'll send them over.
