The premise

After careful consideration and all the planning and stuff I outlined in my first post (read it here) I decided that -5kg would be a desirable and doable goal for week one.

The initial metrics

Intended duration1 year from 19th of June 2026

Week 1 progress

After taking the first jab on 19th of June 2026 without any immediate side effects (which I was pretty weary about to be honest), I started into my week. I put a strong focus on the following:

  • reducing carbs and sugar
  • upping my protein intake
  • staying very hydrated (Spain is an oven right now 😉)
  • eating small portions spread out over the day instead of bug meals
  • stay within 1,500-1,700 cals every day (Macros app says with 20% calorie restriction I would land at 2,000 cals roughly but I wanted to stay well below without undereating)
  • do moderate amount of walking every other day

Throughout the week I never had any grave hunger attacks or was thinking about eating too much and only ate when I was feeling hungry. I ate a lot of “high protein” products (e.g. protein pudding, protein drinks, chicken fillet) and cut back on carbohydrates like break or pasta heavily.

(One of my staples was my self-devised meal prep recipe with quinoa, lean beef and veggies, recipe will follow soon)

The weigh-in

On my jab day (which is Friday) I took my measurements and weight in the morning and what can I say? -4kg down and -4cm waist reduction! 🎉

A kilogram short of my goal reduction but I’m happy and motivated to push on and I count this as an important first win in my book. Onwards with week 2, took my jab (again without any noticeable side effects) on Friday at noon.
